Question: Hello Doctor,
I recently got a health check up done for my wife and while all parameters seem okay, she seems to have Vitamin D deficiency. Her 25-OH Vitamin D is 8.47
She is 36 years old and slightly obese. She has burning sensation in her left foot as well, could this be due to the vitamin D deficiency?

Brief Answer:
Need Vitamin D supplementation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for posting your query.

First of all her burning sensation is not due to Vitamin D deficiency. If not tested get her Blood Sugars and Vitamin B 12 levels tested and revert back with reports.

Now coming to her Vitamin D levels, it is very low and needs supplementation. I recommend Cholecalciferol ( D-Rise tablet 60000 units ) weekly once for 2 months followed by monthly once for 4 months .

In addition ask her to get more sunlight exposure to her body. Do repeat Vitamin D test after 8 months.

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask.

Regards.

Hello Doctor,

Thanks for your reply. In fact I have got her entire blood profile done and apart from Vitamin D deficiency, everything seems normal. below are the readings

HBA1C - 5.3
Average blood glucose - 105
Vitamin B-12 - 609 pg/ml

Brief Answer:
Just continue Vitamin D Supplement.

Detailed Answer:
That fine , then just give her Vitamin D supplement and observe , if her burning sensation persists even after 3 weeks then get Nerve Conduction Study of Left foot and revert back with report.
