Brief Answer:
PCOD is a state of Insulin resistance.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for your question.
Noted your concern.

PCOD (Polycystic ovarian disease) it's self is a state of Insulin resistance.
Type 2 Diabetes is also due to Insulin resistance & pancreatic dysfunction.

Insulin resistance means increased need for insulin by body tissue.
If pancreas function adequately this increased demand for insulin can be full filled by pancreas which keep blood sugar under control.
If there is a pancreatic dysfunction, pancreas cannot full fill demand of increased insulin there is rise of blood sugar levels leading to Diabetes.

As there is insulin resistance there are increased chances of developing Diabetes in future.

This risk is further increased by
1) Family history of Diabetes.
2) Overweight, obesity.
3) Lack of physical activity.

So weight reduction (BMI reduction from your current BMI of 27+ to as normal as possible preferably below 23 help in prevention of Diabetes as well of reversal of changes of PCOD.

I may suggest to do HbA1c or OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) now and if normal at regular intervals (at least once in a year).

Hope this helps you.

Dr Abhay Mali.
