Question: Hello Doc....I am 39 and have a chronic case of irritable bowel syndrome( motions 3-4 times and flatulence) for many years. Recently i started taking Sporlac tablets and my condition seem to be improving. But i did this on my own. Would like to know from you if probiotics like sporlac should be taken before or after meals.
Secondly , would enzyme tablets containing Activated Charcoal, Fungal Diastase, and Papain etc , help my condition ?
Thanks in advance...

Brief Answer:
Should be taken on an empty stomach.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. It is best to take probiotics on an empty stomach when you wake up in the morning or before bed. When a probiotic supplement is taken after a meal, extremely low levels of bacteria actually survive.

I do not suppose that taking enzyme tablets containing Activated Charcoal, Fungal Diastase, and Papain would be of any benefit.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
