Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query at HCM.
I understand your concern and situation.

Your symptoms have lasted for more than 10 days and does not seems to be common cold. It is likely a sinus infection in which inflammation and swelling of your sinuses. Due to which air filled space become filled with fluid, bacteria which causes infection. Mostly discharge is thick, yellow, foul-smelling nasal discharge. It could be infective, allergic rhinitis or due to nasal polyps. You need to get X-rays or a CT scan of your sinuses and also get sugar test. As you told Enterobactor was isolated I want to know whether you got sensitivity testing done. It could be possible that bacteria is a drug resistant strain so take antibiotics according to drug sensitivity test. Antihistamines and nasal decongestant would be beneficial. Antibiotics are usually used if symptoms persist for more than 10 days. You can take Steaming and hot showers to loosen mucus. You can get nasal saline to wash mucus from your nose. Rarely situation become chronic or long-lasting and patient may need long-term antibiotics or surgery. You can consult an ENT surgeon.

Enterobacter aerogenes is a gram negative bacteria which can be drug resistant and cause bacteremia, respiratory tract infections, skin and soft-tissue infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and other infections in body. Enterobacter infections sometimes necessitates prolonged hospitalization, multiple and varied imaging studies and laboratory tests, various surgical and nonsurgical procedures, and powerful and expensive antimicrobial agents. Carbapenems are the most reliable beta-lactam drugs for the treatment of severe Enterobacter infection. You have taken cefuroxime you might need to change antibiotics. But to establish infection with this bacteria must be isolated from repeated samples.

I hope I answered your query.

I have a ct scan that my ENT has done I am a candiate for nasal surgery for diviated septum and nasal closure i have allergies to most grasses and trees in the area my condition was compounded with a brief sinus cold it didnt get to my lungs and throat i chew xylitol gum relentlessly it seems to keep colds at bay i also had a tooth extracted in 2006 that the roots punchured my sinus cavity and had to have it grafted multiple times to get the hole to close i just recently went to see my dentist to see if the infection was still in my area where i had my tooth grafted as i feel pressure in the area when i blow my nose he noticed that my graft produced no bone so my nasal cavity has profuded to my gum area he suggests getting a new ct to see in detail the area to see if any infection is trapped in the area , my biggest concern is the no responce to the antibiotics i as a child had cystic acne where as i was perscribed tetracycline and erethromyicin all through my high school and early 20s to combat the acne and the numerous nasal infections about twice a year for the last 8 years i am wondering if this might be causing the for my body not responding ? I am trying everything right now im trying food grade hydogen peroxide baths and might move to injesting it, do you thing this could help or hinder that type of bactereia ?

Brief Answer:
Seems like chronic sinusitis

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back dear.

I realize your suffering but because in your case you are not responding to oral and topical medications suggests that you have developed a chronic sinusitis. Now I suggest nothing to panic or worry you just need to undertake a repeat CT and go for surgical interventions and corrective surgery by an experienced ENT SPECIALIST. Until unless the root problem will not be solved you will get infections. Surgery either endoscopic or sinus is most successful when used along with medicine and home treatment to prevent future sinusitis. You can also get your immune status evaluated by your physician. Get blood sugar levels done. Eat healthy and protein rich balanced diet with multivitamins and calcium supplements. Drink plenty of fluids. Don't worry with correct treatment your problem will be solved.
