The treatment of Dupytren's contracture depends on the severity of the problem and the affection of the hand function. If the function is only mildly affected then medical treatment is preferred.
This includes a minor procedure called needle fasciotomy, radiation therapy and a relatively new medicine called collagenase clostridium histolyticum. These are generally most effective if used before the condition becomes severe.
In severe cases, surgery is preferred to restore the hand function.
