Question: my doctor took blood test and advise I have stage 3 ckd but did not recommend a specialist why? I have been reading and it says should be seeing a specialist right away. she did take me off some medication and did a ultrasound and ultrasound was normal seems like she was offended when I asked her should i see a specialist now also my test was normal three months ago. I am not having any symptoms at all and all the reading is saying I should be having so sort of systems.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for the query,

Your concern is understandable in this setting. I would say if there has been a change in your kidney function showing development of kidney disease then it would be very reasonable to see a nephrologist.,

You might contact your primary care physician again and request a referral to a kidney doctor or nephrologist to review your labs and to see if any additional investigations need to be done.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
