Question: I'm a little bit worried about two situations. The first one was on February (unprotected vaginal sex with my girlfriend) and the second one was oral unprotected oral sex at March (i was passive). After that i started to be a little bit confused because i dont know when do the counting for testing. If i count from the 17 th February i've made 7 tests. One 4th generation at 11 week, rapid test at 12 week, rapid test at 13 week, 4th generation at 14 week and rapid test at the same week, 15 week rapid test and 16 week rapid test. If i count from the oral episode i count 6 week 4th generation test, 7 week rapid test, 8 week rapid test, 9 week 4 th generation and rapid test, 10 week rapid and 11 week rapid. This was my only unprotected exposure with a girl and she already did a rapid test with at least 5 months and a half. I guess that i'm so anxious with this, can i move on with my life? Can you help me?

Hi there XXXXXXX
I have just one piece of advice for you from my experience in the field of close to 2 decades : STOP COUNTING!!
Don't get me wrong. I do understand your anxiety & empathise but there comes a time when one has to take a stand & I think it is definitely time to move on with your life.
My head is swooning trying to count the number & generations of lab tests you have undergone. It more than suffices. Both situations are accounted for, done & dusted. Set your soul free XXXXXXX & move on with your life. I trust you are with the same partner now & if so, monogamy may the way forward & a solution to not using any precautions. However, if not, Please do practice safe sex henceforth to avoid the stress of a predicament such as the one you found yourself in this time!
Good Luck & Godspeed!

Doctor,

My last question. Can you explain a little bit how a 4th generation test is and if it is possible that imagine that i want to do another on the 6 month window if that is chance to turn positive? I'm just asking this because on internet there are some information about 6th month and scares me a bit.

Brief Answer:
Chill XXXXXXX You are all clear & Safe.

Detailed Answer: XXXXXXX
Stop reading & believing everything you read & for your sanity, close this discussion/window & look upon that as a sign that all is well & we are done & dusted.
It does not matter what generation it is. There are fixed CDC criteria that you can look up & stick to only these. 2 elisa TESTS DONE 6 MTHS apart if normal can be taken to be Negative or Conclusive that one does not have HIV.
In my clinical experience, a PCR test for mRNA done anytime after 2 weeks of exposure is just as good & definitive.
Understand you being scared but drawing out a discussion is only going to make it worse & hence I state Best to End this here!
Take care & hope you enjoy a long & productive life.
