Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that the total cholesterol level is not a confident for determing your cardio vascular risk.

I would like to know the levels of HDL. You should know that Total cholesterol/HDL ratio is a better indicator of your cardio vascular risk.

Could you please upload your blood lipid profile reports for me to review?

A lot of omega 3 rich foods ( fish, nuts, olive oil, etc.) are helpful in reducing the cholesterol levels.

Besides, a lot of physical exercise is also very helpful. I recommend you to continue the physical activity that you are performing.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any other questions whenever you need!

Greetings!

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

The blood lipid profile doesn't show if it is genetic or not, but it shows only the levels of different lipoproteins, cholesterol and triglycerides, in order to be able to determine the type of dyslipidemia and choose the proper therapy.

In cases of high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides is young persons, who suffer from cardiovascular disease at an early age and they have a similar family history, the genetic analysis should be done to investigate for a genetic dyslipidemia.

I recommend continuing with your healthy diet.

Hope to have been helpful!
