Question: My daughter is 21 year old. She attends college. For the last 3 -4 weeks she has had a swollen lymph gland behind her left ear. It does not hurt. It is just hard and swollen...like a lump. She does get fatigued...which comes and goes. She will be normal....and then she will get very pale and look like she is sick. She is always in good health, she exercises and runs, eats very healthy, and drinks a lot of water. She went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and they tested her for mono and it was negative. They gave her an antibiotic and said that if the swelling does not go down to see an ENT doctor when she comes home for Thanksgiving. The swelling has not went down. I am having a hard time getting a doctors appointment over the holiday time period. She goes to college out of state. They did take a blood test, and the test results associated with her red blood count (RBC, Hematocrit, etc.) were higher and outside the normal range, as well as her lymph (%). White blood count was within range. Should I still take her to a ENT and perhaps delay her going back to school a few days?
