Suggest Remedy For Slight Chest Pain, Sore Throat And Chest Pressure

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Dec 2015
Question: My problems started in late September, slight chest pain or pressure. Doesn't occur during exercise. This problem has been on and off since then. In the last 3 weeks, gradual sore throat then got really bad with what felt like a lump in my throat. The lump feeling has gone away, but the hoarse voice is still there, and gets worse when I talk and the sore throat comes back. I get throat relief from drinking water. Chest x-ray was clear, stress test was good. Endoscopy clear. Would like the hoarse voice to go away and the now and then chest pain. In October started taking Omeprazole, hasn't done much.

Brief Answer:
Stroboscopy. Change of reflux medication.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. This does seem to be acid reflux from your description, considering that these tests are within normal limits. The other condition that comes to mind is a chronic laryngitis.

2. A Stroboscopy or High Speed Camera Videolaryngoscopy is recommended.

3. Upload images or videos from these endoscopies for an accurate assessment.

4. Change medication to a rabeprazole and levosulpiride for a month. Mucaine gel and effervescent ranitidine tablets will help. Diet and lifestyle changes are equally important. Allergy and food intolerance tests can be done. Any post nasal drip, snoring and sleep apnea should be ruled out. What is your BMI (Body Mass Index)?

I hope I have answered your query. If you have any follow up queries, I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
