Suggest Remedy For Severe Ear Pain Caused By Earwax Buildup

Question: Hello, I have been having a problem with what I imagine to be built up ear wax in R ear. I have had this problem before and have some acetic acid otis solution, but am tempted to go to Urgent care. I used the drops last night and when they were prescribed for me 2 years ago, I thought they were for 'softening" the wax, but in checking them out online, it seems they are more for external canal infection. What else might I do, flush the ear ? It has become painful, never mind the ringing.

Brief Answer:
Is it very painful? Any fever?

Detailed Answer:
HI and thank you so much for this query.

Most probably, the acetic acid caused some burns in the ear which is responsible for this pain. I will suggest that you take pain medications such as Tylenol and Ibuprofen for this. If the pain is too severe and not relieved by these medications, I will recommend that you seek further consultation probably with your doctor for detailed examination of the ear.

Keep me posted about this. I wish you well and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
