Brief Answer:
Please apply ointment and watch the pain for a week

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. I see x ray of back every day and come across many patients with the problems you have. Your x ray done on 06 october 2015 shows that the muscles of lower back were is spasm. This happens due to sudden stress on the muscles and is treated with ointment containing pain reliever and muscle relaxant. The ointment Relaxyl is one such ointment and is to be applied gently over the lower back. Initially it will give a burning sensation and then your will get relief.

2. Muscle spasm usually gets better in 15 days and if the pain is persisting after that then a MRI scan lumbar sine is recommended. This is to know if there is any disc problem which is causing pinching of nerve roots. Long term treatment of low back pain includes avoiding heavy physical activity, physiotherapy as per the location of injury, pain relief medicines, neurogenic pain relievers, facet joint injections and surgery.

3. Without doing MRI scan it is difficult to pinpoint the problem. It is probable that your problem is at another level and that is why the injection at L 4 L 5 is not working.

In conclusion, you can try applying the ointment Relaxyl twice daily for a week and avoiding heavy physical activity. If pain persists then you require a MRI scan lumbar spine to know where exactly is the problem.

Hope your query is answered.
