Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: I have had abdominal and stomach pain and pretty intense had to take a pain pill since I took Macrobid antibiotic for a bladder infection several weeks ago. I am constipated too but I think it's more than that. Saw a greenish discharge last night on a pad. What should I do. Been taking acidopholis and stool soften eras for days.

Brief Answer:
Need to investigate for infections

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. The greenish discharge through the reproductive system is indicative of an infection (more commonly associated with trichomoniasis), and needs to be further investigated using a culture and sensitivity and also antibiotic coverage at the earliest (please consult a gynaecologist for the same).

As for the abdominal/stomach pain, it is associated with any possible infection (either reproductive or digestive) which will require a confirmation by your doctor and medical investigations to confirm the diagnosis and guide treatment accordingly.

I hope you find my response helpful. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help.

Best wishes.

What is trichomoniasis? Are you saying it could be causing the abdominal pain?

Brief Answer:
STD; yes quite possible

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease that primarily affects the urinary tract, vagina and digestive system. I am not saying that you have trichomoniasis for sure, but with the current information at hand it does seem like the most plausible option.

And yes, trichomoniasis does present with abdominal pain as well, so the underlying condition (like trichomoniasis that I suspected) could very well be the cause for your abdominal pain.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Glad to know that ma'am, but either way a culture or swab will be required

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

I am glad to know that the chances of it being trichomoniasis are significantly reduced, but even if it is not, you will have to visit a doctor for a culture or swab test to confirm the cause for your presentation, so please do find time to visit your doctor at your earliest convenience.

I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you. Please do not hesitate to write to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
