Suggest Remedy For Sensitivity And Pain In Penis Post Oral Sex

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Nov 2015
Question: About three weeks ago I received oral sex from an anonymous partner. About a week or so after I started feeling a discomfort around the head of my penis. Very sensitive to the touch, if I apply pressure it feels sore and irritated (inside if that makes sense), somewhat of a burn or discomfort. No discharge, no open sores or bumps or rash. No fever or chills or aches. As the week progressed the pain in the penis progressed making it difficult just to wear clothes as the head of my penis rubbed against the clothes feeling extremely sensitive and tingly and uncomfortable.

Shortly after I started having the need to urinate frequently. When I try peeing almost nothing comes out but my bladder feels full with pressure like if I have to pee very badly. It does not hurt to pee, but after I'm done peeing the opening of my penis will often feel a little sting or burn or discomfort for a while.

Late last week I started feeling bruised and very sore around the scrotum (on one side mainly), in addition to the symptoms I mentioned above. This made it very difficult just to sit so I rushed to urgent care.

I went to urgent care and was tested for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes 1 and 2, hepatitis B and C. All tests were negative and the doctor said she could not see any bacteria in my urine, only increased level of protein. They were sending my urine and blood to a lab for more tests and I am waiting on those results.

I was prescribed doxycycline as the doctor thought maybe I had prostatitis or urethritis or some other kind of infection. Today is day 3 that I am on the antibiotic. My scrotum is not currently feeling sore and the pain in my penis feels a little better but the pain is still very present and very uncomfortable. I still feel urge to pee all the time (with no actual pee). The head of my penis in particular still feels extremely sensitive to the touch making it uncomfortable even wearing clothes.

I know antibiotics work fairly rapidly and I thought by now I would have at least started feeling some relief since I have been on them for 3 days - however, the major problems still remain.

I am very scared and have not slept well in several weeks due to the anxiety.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics can take few days to show total response

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. If you have got the required tests for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes 1 and 2, hepatitis B and C and reports are negative then it is unlikely that you have any of these conditions.

2. However, it is probably that you might have a urethritis or prostatitis from an unusual organism. Since doxycycline has reduced your symptoms therefore it is surely working for you.

3. It is true that oral sex is low risk for HIV and therefore there is no need to develop anxiety over it. Regarding other conditions, most are treatable and can be controlled. Three days is not enough to control the infection and you have to give it a little over a week and then watch for any continuing problems. The head of penis might be sensitive either from anxiety or due to mild infection. Please be relaxed and wait for your other lab tests.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Thank you for your response. You mentioned the possibility of other conditions that are treatable or can be controlled. What conditions might those be?

Brief Answer:
Non gonococcal urethritis infections can happen

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxx,
Thanks for writing back with an appreciation.

1. What I meant is that people usually fear HIV the most after engaging in a sexual activity with an unknown person. In this context, oral sex usually never transmits HIV and therefore you are safe.

2. The other conditions which are treatable includes urinary tract infections and urethritis from organisms other than gonococcus. This includes mycoplasma, ureaplasma and chlamydia bacteria. These are treated with antibiotics.

3. I will suggest you to maintain genital hygiene and drink adequate water so that you pass urine frequently and flush out any infection in the urinary tract.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

Should I worry about hepatitis A? The clinic did not test me for it.

What about Hepatitis B or C? I tested negative but perhaps I tested too early? I worry those are not treatable

Brief Answer:
Hepatitis B and C will not cause urinary symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Hepatitis A is transmitted through contaminated water and is not a sexual disease.

2. Hepatitis B and C can have window periods of 6 months.

3. However it is less likely to get Hepatitis B or C and experience symptoms of prostatitis and urethritis. You can get tested after 6 months for peace of mind.

Hope your query is answered.
