Suggest Remedy For Problems In Vision After Cataract Surgery

Question: I just had my cataracts removed and shortly after surgery I have had problems with my vision both close up and at a distance. Up close when I try to read I cannot see the letters in the middle of words and the vision goes to like a V point seeing at a distance and missing letters in words, if I bock one eye or the other I can see fine with no missing letters and no V point. What's wrong and how do I repairer it so I can see as I did before the surgery? My I Doctor acts like this is normal.

I am Dr Dadapeer k an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.
I reviewed your history and I can understand your concern.
After cataract surgery the accommodation mechanism of the lens is lost as the natural lens is removed and it is replaced by artificial intraocular lens.
This is normal condition and no need to be worried about it. weeks of cataract surgery.
Hence no need to be worried about it and this occurs after all types of cataract surgeries, the exception being the use of multifocal intraocular lenses or accommodative intraocular lenses.
This requires correction by the use of spectacles for near vision and spectacles are usually given after 4-6 weeks.

Hello,

That is the problem it has been about 14 weeks and I have new glasses with lenses with all the bells and whistles. Is possible that he put the wrong lenses in during surgery? I need to see and read for my job and have bought more powerful reading glasses. It does not help. Why doesn't do it if I cover one eye at a time?

Thank you for the follow up question.

Since you are having the problem on seeing with both the eyes and it this problem is not there on closing one eye, this indicates a probable anisometropia.
This is because of difference in the refractive power of the two eyes.

Hence I would suggest you to go for refraction testing and verification of the spectacles you are wearing.

Hi ,
Dr Stevens is a board certified ophthalmologist, he has had me in 4 times, he can see my vision problems but does not seem to want to admit that something is wrong and has no suggestion on how to make it right. I have to be able to read in my profession. I need some help and of course it is over my head. Any ideas?

By reviewing your complaints I think different refractive powers in both the eyes can be the cause.
This can occur because of astigmatism induced by surgery or by implanting intraocular lens of improper power in either of the eye.

Hence I would suggest for a second opinion with other ophthalmologist or optometrist.
