Suggest Remedy For Presence For Clots In Urine

default
Posted on Wed, 25 Feb 2015
Question: I tried urethral sounding today and placed the sound to my perineum without any discomfort. When I pulled the sound out some blood came out with it. When I urinated a few minutes later, I urinated out a small clot with red tinged urine. My urine is now red tinged for a second and then becomes clear near the end of the stream. I know I should probably go to the ER but I wanted to know if I could have simply torn a small vessel or irritated my urethra and that be it?

Brief Answer:
No need to go to ER.

Detailed Answer:
Good Day and thank you for being with Healthcare Magic!

What condition do you have why your urologist prescribed you urethral sounding?

It is perfectly normal after urethral sounding or urethral dilation that there will be a small amount of blood or bleeding. It is usually self limited and would stop on its own.

The cause of the bleeding is the micro abrasions in the urethra after dilation that irritated or tore the small vessels. This is unavoidable and is considered the rule rather than the exemption. Just makes sure the urethral sounds is very well lubricated prior to insertion.
