Suggest Remedy For Persistent Wart On Scrotum

Question: Hello Dr. I have a question regarding a PCR sequencing test to detect HPV. One year ago (November 2014) I found a dark wart on the scrotum. The doctor prescribed me Podophyllin and the wart was gone in 8 days.

3 months later another 2 warts appear. One in the scrotum (which I removed again with Podophyllin) and one in my toe (which I removed with salicylic acid). Then, in XXXXXXX 2015 I found a little black pimple on the penis corona. The doctor told me it was a pimple and prescribed me a cream with fusidic acid and I used it for 1.5 months but nothing happened. Then a dermatologist prescribed me imiquimod for 4 weeks but again I dint notice any change. Finally he applied liquid nitrogen to it and today I still can see a small black spot(maybe is just the scar).

I wanted to know if this was caused by HPV so in October 2015 I got a PCR sequencing test that can detect 98 different genotypes. The sample was a urethral scrape with a cytobrush. The results were presented into 3 groups. Genotypes of high risk, low risk and possible high risk. To my XXXXXXX the 3 were negative.

My question is:

-Why does this test was negative even when I had warts in the past?, Does this test just detects the virus if the warts are present at that moment?

-Does this test just detects if the virus is in the urethra? I would like to know if the pimple in the corona was hpv.

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
Sampling error

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us

I have read your query and I have understood you concern.

The wart bearing skin of glans and scrotum was not even sampled therefore it is not surprising that pcr test came out as negative!
It is purely a case of sampling error. i.e looking for something, somewhere, where it is not supposed to be.
Based on this test result it is not possible to say whether you still carry Hpv infection or not. Had this test been done from the corona of glans and/or scrotum (i.e sites of previous warts) and if that would have come out as negative, only then it would have been of significance.

Thanks for your answer Doctor. Should I tell the person taking the sample to scrape those areas with the brush?
