Suggest Remedy For Persistent Redness In Eyes After Fever Recovery

Question: Hi,
I have had red eyes for the past 10 days or so. They are red in the morning - only below the pupils - and within about 45 minutes of waking up, the redness decreases, after this, a few 'veins' remain red, and this redness lasts for the entire day. Then again, they are more red in the morning. I went to the doctor and he did a check up. he said that my eyes are completely fine and did not prescribe any drops. He said this is most likely something viral, which comes and goes "as it pleases".
I don't have any other symptoms: no itching, vision is fine and clear, no burning sensation, no pain. Although the left eye felt a little sore, on and off for a day or two but that has gone away.
Other than that, i just recovered from a bad fever. Symptoms included: weakness, loss of appetite, feeling cold. When I went to the doctor for that, he said that it is most likely caused by a virus and there is no need for any prescription. That is much better now. Not sure if that had something to do with the redness but I started to notice the redness around the same time.
Any suggestions as to what this could be or if I should get over the counter drops?

thanks

Brief Answer:
Mild viral conjunctivitis

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You had a cold or viral illness recently and continued red eyes since then. This is probably due to the viral illness and it is called viral conjunctivitis. Since you hare not having any pain or discomfort there is no reason to treat the redness. Over time your body will respond to the virus and the redness will resolve.

Just allow nature to run its normal course
