Question: I am anemic. Hospitalized May 2014 for 6.4 hemogloblin. I am pale, and panting in sleep per my husband. Should I be worried? thank you.

Yes , you should be worried for this Hemoglobin. You have Severe Anemia.
Breathlessness, panting in sleep, extreme tiredness are symptoms that you or your husband might be noticing.
You require evaluation for the cause.
First of all, see if you have any excessive bleeding in periods, any problems related to piles or any black colored stools you get.
If yes, then this could be the reason for your excessive blood loss and anemia.
Any how, you need to get following Investigated ASAP:
1. Complete Hemogram.
2. Kidney Function tests.
3. Iron studies.
4. Liver function tests.
5. Ultrasound Abdomen.
Get these basic investigations, they will give an idea to which type of anemia you have, as the treatment would be based on that.
