Suggest Remedy For Pain On Left Side Of Neck

default
Posted on Fri, 24 Jul 2015
Question: In my left part of my neck around where my artery is, I have an unusual strain. It does not hurt to touch nor is it discolored or have a bump. I am left handed and do carry a heavy big bag on that shoulder. I was just at my annual gyn appt and my BP was normal (which. Is always slightly lower than norm actually). I was worried there may be some issue with my artery?

Brief Answer:
Don't think it's related to the artery.

Detailed Answer:
I read hour question carefully and I am sorry about the symptom you are experiencing.

I do not think it is an artery related issue though. Usually artery involvement like cervical artery dissection, manifest themselves apart from acute pain involving the neck and head, with stroke symptoms due to emboli released in the brain circulation, or with symptoms related to nerve compression like ptosis, pupillary asymmetry, cranial nerve palsies etc.

What actually is the cause of course would need a physical exam to be said, but most probably it's a benign muscular strain, which should gradually subside, helped if necessary by over the counter anti inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen.

I hope to have been of help.
