Question: I have recovered from a viral infection about a month back. It was dengue negative but my platlets did drop and pick up again. I did have severe pains during my viral .. it was pains in my fingers and feet and full body. Now I have pains again .. almost like arthiritis sorts. Ita worse when I wake up in the morning and can't even put my foot down. Thru the day the pain becomes better but gets worse again at night. The pain is mostly in my feet, hands, left shoulder, arms and some parts of the legs. It's sometimes disabling pain. When I am resting there is no pain.. when I move the pain is terrible.

Please do let me know what I can do about this.

Brief Answer:
Reactive arthritis (ReA)

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

It seems that you have Reactive arthritis (ReA) i.e.development of non-purulent acute arthritis preceded by symptomatic viral infection.
ReA is a clinical diagnosis with no definitively diagnostic laboratory
test or radiographic finding.
Most patients with ReA benefit to some degree from high-dose
NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). However ReA is self-limiting and is likely to subside completely in due course of time.

Brief Answer:
Reactive arthritis (ReA) and choice of NSAIDs

Detailed Answer:
Indomethacin 75–150 mg/d in divided doses, is the initial treatment of choice, but other NSAIDs (e.g piroxicam ,Naproxen ) may be tried.
NSAIDs need to be taken with Proton pump inhibtors (PPIs) like Pantoprazole to prevent gastric side effects (gastritis and peptic ulcer disease).
These are all prescription drugs and need to be taken under advise and supervision of physician.
Most patients have symptoms lasting a few weeks to few months and may be able to reduce the dose.
