Suggest Remedy For Nausea And Diarrhea While On Zyvox

Question: My wife taking Zyvox tablets for M.R.S.A. Hospitalized one week for double pneumonia; several I.V.'s of Zyvox and then discharged on Zyvox tablets. Has had nausea and diarrhea. Yesterday, bowels moved 5 or 6 times. Totally loose bowels. No appetite. She's trying hard. Do you know of any medications that might help with the diarrhea?

Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am concerned that your wife has developed diarrhea after taking antibiotics. As a side effect from taking antibiotics it kills off all the good bacteria along with the bad ones and can cause a superinfection in the GI tract called Clostridium difficile.

Instead of just taking something to stop the diarrhea , I think your wife needs to be seen at an Urgent Care or ER and be tested from this Clostridium difficile.

If she has this she can become more sick and become dehydrated. So please have her seen today at the earliest.

Please DO NOT WAIT any more.
