Question: I have a pain in my left hand when i lift weights. Grasping or pushing a barbell or dumbbell creates a pressured pain in the "hypthenar" (?) region of my hand. It doesnt feel like a bone issue, more of a muscular one. I was wondering what this could be from? It has persisted for roughly the past 3 weeks.

Brief Answer:
Muscle sprain

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

It can be related to a sore muscle due to disproportionate load bearing. NSAIDs (both oral and topical) , muscle relaxants and physiotherapy can be advised for 10 days. Most likely the pain will improve. If the pain persists or worsens or if there is associated muscle weakness and reduced function then nerve conduction studies and EMG can be advised accordingly, in consult with your doctor.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks

thank you very much, the NSAIDs are helping with the slight pain.

I have a question not pertaining to my health, but more of a general question...
Why do veins appear blue under my skin, even though blood is always red?

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Blood is red, veins appear blue as light wavelengths are filtered differently due to the intervening skin. Blood in itself is always red. It appears blue in veins due to difference in degrees of penetration of light.

Thanks.
