Suggest Remedy For Lump In Thigh

Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2015
Question: Hello, I noticed a swollen lump on the outside of my right thigh just above my knee cap this morning. It's warm to the touch and mildly painful. It's adjacent yo the bottom of my I T band. I returned from a 24 hour flight from Australia five weeks ago. Is this anything to be concerned with? I often have numbness there from a tight I T band but never warmth and swollen.

Brief Answer:
Likely to be boil but need more information.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.

I have seen the picture carefully and understand the concern.

Swollen, painful and warm to touch lump is likely to be boil or turning abscess which is mostly due to to bacterial infection (mostly staphylococcal) but without clinical examination,it is very difficult to diagnose it correctly.

However,I can see some swelling in the picture around your knee but it is not clearly seen or located,so it would be helpful if you can take an another picture or mark the lump with marker pen and upload again.

If it is certainly small boil then there is no need to be worried as it can be treated with appropriate medications.

Numbness could be due to remaining in posture for a long time or local nerve root compression which is not a big concern.

So,kindly send me another picture as I asked.I will give my advise after going through the pictures again.

Regards,

Brief Answer:
Kindly take the picture of lump itself.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for sharing one more picture.

I have seen second the picture carefully but unable to locate swelling or lump.

Without a single look it is very comment exactly.

So,I would again request you to take a picture of lump itself and mark the outlines with marker.

Awaiting your response.
