Suggest Remedy For Infected Ganglion Cyst
Question: My ganglion cyst on top of my toe popped while I was wearing fins in the ocean. I'm wanting to make sure it doesn't get infected, and not sure whether or not it is right now. How would I know if it's infected? It may have been opened up on Sunday, as it was tender before then. Though yesterday it was clearly popped, I started treating it last night with triple antibiotic. I have been seen and diagnosed in the past with the ganglion cyst and opted to do nothing.

(3)increasing swelling of the area

These would indicate that an infection is present. It is expected that there should be some discomfort /redness or swelling but this should be stable or decreasing not worsening.
If there is any worsening, it may indicate infection
In addition to applying the antibiotic, you can consider cleaning the area once or twice daily with an antiseptic

Thanks. So from the photo, it doesn't look like it's infected? And I should just monitor to make sure that the swelling goes down and doesn't worsen, and that there's no discharge or increased redness?

Though the fins I was wearing were what caused the cyst to open up (rubbing on it). So I'll go into the water but not use the fins, sound about right?
