Brief Answer:
Fever is usually a sign of infection

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health Care Magic.

Fever is usually a sign of infection. Most often it is caused due to certain viruses although it can also be caused due to bacterial conditions like urinary tract infection which can be confirmed only after investigation.

If the temperature is raised you may give paracetamol as well as tepid sponging. You may try Meftal P syrup. It contains Mefenamic acid and is more potent than paracetamol and may be tried. The gap between doses should be 6-8 hours. But since it is a prescription drug, you might need to get it prescribed by your doctor. In any case, visiting a doctor and remaining under his follow up is always better since he can assess the child clinically and can intervene accordingly.

Hope that helps.
