Suggest Remedy For Hard Lumps On Forehead

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Dec 2015
Question: My husband gets hard lumps under his skin on his forehead and on top of his head. They come out of nowhere but are nickel sized in width and stick off his head about a half an inch. It's very scary. Seriously it looks like a horn is going to pop out. They always go away in 1 to 4 hours. Any idea what this is and if we should be concerned?

Brief Answer:
Angioneurotic edema, Like urticaria, allergic one.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and concerns about your husband.
The lesions which you described so well are due to a condition called angioneurotic edema.
The exact cause is not known why these come, hence the treatment is empirical.
Meaning, the treatment comprises of antihistamine like Benedryl or Cetirizine.
Oral steroid may also be given if he is not diabetic.
These are harmless but if they appear on tongue or neck, it is better to be shown to the Doctor as he may need injections.
Additional treatment given is:
A single dose antihelminthic medicine like Albendazole.
Try to find out the instigating factors in food, beverages, atmosphere and so on and once found try to avoid such things. This needs a keen observation on his and your part.

I hope this answer helps him and you.
You may please consult your Doctor for further discussion and to get proper medicines at hand so that they can be given the moment the lesion starts appearing.

Please feel free to ask relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.
