Suggest Remedy For Fatigue After Flu Infection
Follow healthy changes in diet&lifestyle regimen..
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
I have gone through your medical history carefully and understood your concerns.
The very first thing in your case is to find out "WHY" you feel fatigued:
- not eating enough healthy foods?
- not resting enough?
- not drinking enough water?
- medications you are currently taking?
- type of work you are doing (if it requires concentration? is it stressful?)
At your age, unfortunately, the metabolism starts to run slower as compared to earlier. I encourage my patients of your age to eat healthy and to work around to keep healthy.
If I was your caring doctor, would advise to make some changes in your diet and lifestyle regimen you are following:
1. Avoid eating foods high in simple sugar as they will make you feel tired and sleepy (they will cause your blood sugar to spike and get down too fast). Instead, I encourage to eat more complex carbohydrates (e.g whole grains) as they will provide a steady level of blood sugar and energy all day long.
2. Have more foods that are high in Magnesium (Mg) as this mineral plays a crucial role in converting glucose (sugar) into energy. The higher the levels of Mg, the higher the energy is provided to your body.
Some of these foods include : nuts (cashew, hazelnut, almond); fish, whole grains, etc.
3. Selenium is another mineral that plays an important role in the mood too. Good sources of selenium include: Brazil nuts, meat, seafood, whole grains, etc.
4. Have more foods rich in Omega-3: fish (salmon), nuts, dark green leaf veggies
5. Include more fiber in your daily diet as it will keep your energy at steady level all day long. Good sources of fiber include: whole fruits&vegetables, beans, whole grains, etc.
6. Keep well hydrated: Water is found in 70% of our body, if this level will be reduced, body metabolism will run slow, thus, you will feel fatigued.
You are reporting to be using coffee although acid reflux and Barrett's esophagus problems. Coffee is a good source of caffeine, but if you drink too much, it won't allow to sleep at night. And, if you do not sleep properly, your energy level will be low all day long.
Next, have your meals regularly, do not skip any of them, especially when it comes to breakfast. If you start your day with a high in fiber breakfast such as whole grains, dairy, etc.; you'll keep energetic all day long.
Hope it helped!
