Suggest Remedy For Developmental Delay In A Child

Question: Hi,
My daughter is 1year old and she is having a global developmental delay. She is not been able to hold her neck properly. She can sit with support for some time. She can do roll over but no crawling. She is not very active and so very less interest in her surroundings.She is recognise me and respond to her name. I have done her MRI. Doctor told me to go for a physiotherapist. I wanted to ask will she be able to develop like normal child. What sort of physiotherapist i should consult ie a neurologial physiotherapist or a general peadiatric one.

You have not mentioned the report of Mri.
Global developmental delay is caused by many causes due to prenatal, natal and postnatal period.
Many other causes may cause such a disorder. Most common cause is hypoxic ischaemic injury leading to cerebral palsy.
Such child have usually delayed milestones and social development.
For treatment physiotherapy is the only hope.
It can be given by pediatric or neurological physiotherapist.
Apart from this, special school are there for such child.
Some other treatment like botox for spasticity or wheel chair may be needed from child to child.
Presentation is variable and depends on injury to brain.
I will advise you to consult a neurologist and be in touch during your child growth.
