Question: For days my daughter has been throwing up a clear mucus. She starts off coughing and then it leads to gagging and throwing up. First it was happening in the morning and now it is happening later in the day. She is not pregnant, after taking the test.

Brief Answer:
I need to know when she had her last periods

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

There could be a number of possible causes behind such a presentation. You have already tried to rule out pregnancy. But I would like to confirm specifically the exact duration that has elapsed after her last period and when was the pregnancy test done. The answer to this question would have the clue to whether she could possibly be pregnant. If it is more than a month after her last periods and the pregnancy test showed negative, the test would need to be repeated after a week if she still does not get her periods. If her periods are normal, the question of pregnancy does not arise. In such a case I would suggest steam inhalation and intake of antiemetics like ondansetron.

She has PCOS and her last period was in May 2015 for 7 days. The pregnancy test was a urine test and blood test two Fridays ago. Both negative.

Brief Answer:
Chances of pregnancy is less but need to be ruled out.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back and for providing the details. You need to repeat the urine pregnancy test at weekly interval. A blood test is more sensitive. Getting a lower abdominal ultrasound should give an actual perspective of the situation and going for it should be a better idea. Till then giving antiemetics is all that you need to do.
