I've been suffering with chronic severe pain in my nose for years. Have seen multiple ENTs and doctors. After no progress from 2009-2013 with ENTs, i was sent to neurology. I was diagnosed with atypical chronic migraines. I never felt diagnosis made sense. I went through many medication efforts and recently had botox which worsened my pain. I have a "migraine" every day. Upon learning botox failed, neurologist suggested XXXXXXX headache center (been trying to get an appt.). I decided to have all paperwork from previous doctors faxed to me while waiting for my appt to be made. I went through my reports and found two xray results. The information on these results seem to be something that could be causing this chronic nose pain. (My headaches are in my nose). These radiology results were never discussed with me. I was told i had chronic sinusitis, but was also told that it couldnt be causing this level of pain. I was never told about an obstruction, cyst or polyp or that my frontal paranasal sinuses are hypoplastic. Why was i not told? Ive always told my husband just pop my nose, take it off, these arent migraines... What do i do now?

Brief Answer:
Please dont worry!

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Please dont worry , i think i may be able to clarify your doubts.

The obstruction to the osteomeatal complex , the polyps and the cyst are a spectrum of the same disorder which can be called as chronic sinusitis, and from your history i believe that you were told that you are having sinusitis.

The best thing would be to meet your ent doctor again as it would be better to know if you still have the sinusitis and to what extent is the infection.

I would recommend that you continue your medications and also start steam inhalation 2-3 times a day, which will help reduce the sinus congestion.

I have not examined you so i am not in a position to prescribe any other medications for you at present.

Please meet your ent doctor and let me know what he advices you so that i can help you better.

Thanks

Thank you very much. Those results were from 2009. I never received them until last week. Since 2009 i have been in severe, chronic pain. The pain in my nose, were diagnosed as migraines - but the diagnosis makes no sense. I have a "migraine" every day. The frequency of the migraines increased after blunt head trauma last spring (I fell off a horse, landed on my head). The migraines also increased in severity after receiving only one round of botox (was going to get 3 rounds). My neurologist determined the botox failed, gave me an adverse reaction, and he sent me off to find new methods to get rid of this pain. I showed him these rwsults from 2009 - which he also never saw and he said to go back to ENT now. How will ENT be able to help me? If this polyp and obstruction was never taken care of, could it have caused more damage and ultimately be the reason why i am in such severe pain?

Brief Answer:
Please meet your ent doctor

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Although it has been a very long time since your ct scan was done, but considering your symptoms are persisting and in fact they are worsening it would be advisable that you meet your ent doctor again.

The ct scan is suggestive of sinusitis and this can cause headache , which can cause severe pain as you are experiencing.

I have not examined you, so i am not able to give a definite opinion, but still i would like you to get another consultation with your ent doctor so he can examine you and guide you further.

Please dont worry , i am sure you will be fine soon.

Take care!
