Suggest Remedies For Swelling Of The Foreskin Caused By Genital Candidiasis

Posted on Fri, 27 Jan 2017
Question: I've had this issue for a while now and it comes and goes. I Googled and it seems to be balantitis (not sure of the spelling) I'm a bit on the bigger side and I have a buried penis. My foreskin is swollen and there is little cuts on it. It hurts like hell when I try to retract my foreskin back. I have a cream that I apply but it seems to come back I use clotrimazole and betamethasone dipropionate cream but for some reason it seems like it doesn't help. Is there any thing you can recommend I do? I'm not a dirty person either.. I wash and dry it everyday

Brief Answer:
Could be due Genital Candidiasis secondary to Diabetes

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for query .

Repeated episodes swelling of the foreskin with cracks and painful retraction is most likely to be due to Muca Cutaneous genital Candidiasis .

You need to get your blood sugar levels tests done to rule out or confirm the same .
Take broad spectrum antibiotic like Cefexime and anti fungal medication like Fluconazole twice daily orally along with Cotrimazole ointment for local application .Do not use any steroid ointment or cream.

If problem persists and you are unable to retract foreskin you may need to consult qualified General Surgeon for clinical assessment .You may need to get circumcised.

This is a simple surgery done under local anesthesia as a out patient procedure and offers permanent cure and helps to have enjoyable sex for rest of the life.

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
