Question: I have been losing hair from my crown/vertex part since past 1 year and its getting worse. I did research about it and it looks like it is androgenic alopecia. So, I started using Minoxidil topical 5% since last 1 month and I have been losing more hair from crown part. Also, my hair are weaker by day all over the head not just crown part, i am losing alot of hair while i take shower, comb, sleep. I am not sure what to do. Please advice, also please suggest what would be my options for the crown balding. I have attached picture of my crown balding.

Brief Answer:
Try ketoconazole shampoo followed by finasteride.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through the details provided and have checked the attached image. I understand your concerns. Let me mention that the mentioned hairloss is likely to be due to a genetic predisposition and if Minoxidil has not helped, Finasteride can perhaps be tried (only after consulting a dermatologist). However, it is worthwhile trying antifungal shampoo like ketoconazole shampoo (available in brands like Nizoral) twice or thrice weekly, since fungal infections of the scalp could also lead to hair loss.

Let me know if I could help further.

Thank for the advice, please may you also advice on PRP for hair loss and alopecia? I was thinking to get PRP as it looks less invasive and straight forward.

Brief Answer:
Can give it a try but cost may be a factor

Detailed Answer:
PRP therapy is used in hair restoration for natural looking results. With a thin needle, your own Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is injected into the scalp. Then the growth factors in your blood cells do their job and hair growth is naturally stimulated. PRP Hair Restoration is suitable for both men and women and can perhaps be tried.
You can always get back to me if you have further query.
Take care. Bye.

Sorry
I meant to ask does it work?
And would it be suitable for me (as per

Yes, I have seen the picture of your hair. It is likely to work for you but it is hard to comment definitively without examining the roots.
