Question: Hello doctor, my 3 week old son started running a fever of 100.4 and the following sepsis workout was taken. I have some queries regarding this doctor..
1) what does a high level CRP indicate?
2) is a value of > 10000 enterococcus a significant growth in male baby?
3) is post void urine of 20ml normal or abnormal ? If so what are the possibilties that the urine is retained?
4)does the report indicate any sort of localized infection or something else?
5)is there a possibility of kidney related issues?
Thank you doctor for taking time to go through the reports I apologize for the lengthy queries as I am so worried.

Brief Answer:
Give him plenty of breast feeds

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Let me try to answer the queries one by one:
1. Indicates infection or inflammation.
2. It indicates urinary tract infection (UTI)
3. Post void urine is not normal. It occurs when urine is incompletely evacuated from the bladder. It predisposes to development of UTI.
4. It indicates infection of the urinary tract (what we refer to as UTI). The culture report of CSF is provided. Please provide the cell type and cell count of CSF (if CSF study has actually been done).
5. Long lasting UTI can lead to kidney problems. So, follow up is needed. Kidney problems unlikely to develop from a single shortlived episode.

Let me know if I could help further.

Brief Answer:
Any sort of wholesome diet should be fine

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Just eat any sort of wholesome diet and it would be fine. Your taking of salty food will not affect your child. Stay away from alcohol. It is advisable to avoid coffee since it will tend to make the baby stimulated (hyperactive) as well.
