Suggest Remedies For Pre-diabetes Symptoms

Posted on Tue, 28 Jun 2016
Question: My girlfriend was finding herself fatigued and sleeping more, less energetic, and somewhat apathetic. Not her usual self. I encouraged her to go to her Doctor who determined that she was prediabetic. Told her if she lost some weight, and she is probably 10 to 15 pounds over, that she should be Ok. My mother is a diabetic and we must watch her sugar intake. Should my girlfriend also watch her sugar intake,
Last night we were returning from dinner about 8 PM when all of a sudden she became very tired and she got a headache. She had been awake for 15 hrs and, blaming it on the long day which was very sedentary. She had a delicious desert of creme bruele, which consists of a sugar glazing and custard, very sweet. Could this have caused her onset of headache and fatigue and should she be watching her sugar intake. I am worried about her. Have not slept all night.

Brief Answer:
May be a few times, every time she reports the exhaustion

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. Fatigue is a common symptom of pre-diabetes, especially when the blood sugar levels rise. But we cannot rule out the fact that she did have a long day, albeit sedentary.

What we can do is to start monitoring her blood sugar levels when she feels this way in the future, just to make sure we don't confuse her pre-diabetes with simple exhaustion.

So in response to your question, may be we can just measure her blood sugar level every time she reports fatigue or exhaustion; may be about 3-5 times and compare the levels (you can also share them with me for my views).

I hope you find my response helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes. :)

Could the sweet desert she had and the glass of sweet wine cause her sugar levels to increase?

Hi sir.

It most certainly can sir. May be if we monitor her blood sugar levels for a while, we can accurately point out the cause for her exhaustion.

Best wishes.
