Question: Hi
My daughter is 2.7 month old and suddenly she stop eating anything .From last 2 month she usually don't want to eat anything though she is choosy from starting. Shee loose almost 2kg weight recently because of viral infection. Her growth is zero from last 6 month no height & zero weight increment. As per our pediatric we need to include solid diet and as per her age her weight is ok and current weight is 14.5kg & height 96cm. Do I need to involve Pediasure or bournvita or Horlics in my baby's diet for proper growth as she is taking any vegetable in her diet. are these supplements good for good mind growth?

Brief Answer:
No need to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. The weight and height is appropriate for your daughter's age. Toddler's age is prone to such variations in feeding habits and poor weight gain. The best measures you may follow to improve your child's feeding habits are:
1. Be a role model. Eat right and be physically active so that your child takes notice and develops the same habits.
2. Limit TV and video time. These habits lead to sedentary lifestyle and poor appetite.
3. Eat together
4. Avoid junk food and sweets
5. Give her healthy choices and make her involved by eating on her own as far as possible.
6. Fix time for eating (3 meals and 2-3 snacks) and avoid continuous dragging to eat as this leads to aversion.
7. Avoid excess fruit juices and milk. Give plenty of water but not before meals.
8. You may give Pediasure or Junior horlicks. Include eggs daily in diet for proper protein supplementation.
9. Veggies and fruits are important and cannot be replaced by any supplement. Eat them yourself for positive reinforcement. Praise her when she eats well.

Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
