Question: How can I prevent a cold getting on my chest?I have had xray blood test and lung performance test and all seem to be in normal range, yet I get a cough and rhinitis which persists for weeks .

no way to absolutely prevent it, but here are some suggestions

There is no way to guarantee that a cold will not move down into the chest but here are some things that can make that less likely:
1) get plenty of rest and sleep
2) drink at least 8 (6oz) glasses of water daily
3) take a multivitamin daily
4) take extra vitamin C when sick
5) eat healthy foods including lots of fruits and vegetables
6) keep moving, even if it is just walking a bit each day
