Suggest Remedies For Pain In Right-sided Hip Area While Doing Yoga

default
Posted on Wed, 25 May 2016
Question: Hello doctor, since 15 days i am doing yoga. I was doing some stretchings too. During that i feel i had little bit pain in rightside above hip area. In routine i do not have pain but while doing some movements involving side legs and all it has little bit pain. I am sure its due to stretching. Instructor told it will go once you have practice of doing it regularly. But i feel like taking rest so have atopped doing stretching. Using some pain relief oilments. Can you suggest some improvement steps and what this pain exactly?

Brief Answer:
Tight muscles and ligaments. Needs warmth application, stretching exercises

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

This pain could be due to fight muscles and ligaments as you are not used to stretching so much. You may do as your Instructor as advised and reduce the intensity of the workout till you find relief.

I would suggest Tablet Diclofenac 75mg twice a day for 5 days after meals and Tablet Ranitidine 150mg twice a day for 5 days before meals. These are prescription medications and will help in reducing pain. Try to do warmup before starting Yoga as this will help in increasing blood supply and flexibility to the muscles.

Try to do squats and stretching exercises as well. You can apply hot water fomentation to the painful region three times a day.

If the pain does not subside in 2 weeks, you can get an Xray of that hip region and review with me.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
