Suggest Remedies For Migraine Headache

default
Posted on Fri, 3 Jun 2016
Question: I've been prescribed several different medications for my migraines. Imitrex for the severe ones and fiorcet and tramadol for ones that aren't as severe. My doctor also put me on amitriptyline (in hopes to prevent migraines) to use at bedtime.
I woke up around 1:30 this morning with a terrible migraine which made me very sick to the point of throwing up. At that time, I took Imitrex and did fall back a sleep for a couple of hours before having to go to work and teach 23 fourth graders.
My head is still killing me but I am not nauseated anymore.
SO... my question is, what would be safe to take to help relieve the pain from this migraine.

Brief Answer:
needs prophylactic and supportive measures

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read yoru question and i understand your concern. Migraine is a nasty resilient headache and some times very difficult to manage . Medications alone does not help. Knowing one's triggers, avoiding them and doing prompt measures to relieve migraine s soon as prodromal symptoms appear and with in first 15 minutes of its onset makes the odds of resolution of migraine more likely.

Usually with chronic migraine and ICH 12 or MIDAS criteria is applied to assess the frequency and severity of migraine and then treatment is advised accordingly.

Abortive measures ( to relieve the acute attacks) are less helpful for repeated migraine with more than two episodes in a month. You need preventive and prophylactic measures. Aitryptaline is one of them. But there is a long list of preventive meds. Apart from it , a long list of diet and lifestyle measure, home remedies, herbal remedies, natural supplements , TENS devices, TMS devices are there to help. Botox injections can be considered. Many patches of serotonin analogs are there .

Talk to your neurologist and let them decide what is best for you.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
