Suggest Remedies For Cystic Acne Scars On The Face

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Oct 2016
Question: Hello,
I have been battling with cystic acne and its scars for the past three months. Three and half weeks ago I got my first salicylic acid peel and was pleased with the results. There was minimal redness after the peel.
I underwent a second session yesterday and during the procedure there was mild tingling sensation which was nothing unexpected because I had experienced the same the first time. After a few hours my face started burning and I could not use any soap or facial cleanser on it. when I woke up this morning my face was a mess. My face had turned angry red aI have not used any medication on my skin except for a dermatologist prescribed moisturizer. Is this temporary? Will I get permanent scars? Is this the indication of a peel gone wrong?

Brief Answer:
Topical steroid, moisturiser and sunscreen

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
You don't have to worry as it is temporary.
You won't get permanent scars because of this.
It happens in some persons with sensitive skin but it can be taken care of.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply steroid cream like mometasone cream on the entire face twice daily for 3-4 days along with the frequent and liberal use of the moisturiser.
Besides this use a broad spectrum sunscreen gel like la shield sunscreen gel on the entire face during the day time after the application of the mometasone cream and moisturiser.
Moreover stay away from sun, wash your face with plain water only, don't rub or scratch your face.
This reaction should settle in 3-4 days.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
