Suggest Remedies For Conjunctivitis In A Child

Question: My 3yr old son sustained an injury to his eye/eyebrow area about a month ago. He tripped at nursery and caught the area on a corner, causing a huge 'egg' to appear. However, he did not lose consciousness and was well in himself, so we treated him at home conservatively. The swelling settles quite quickly. Bruising was fairly extensive over the area, but this started to fade within a week or so and the area returned to normal.

He was left with a small oblong shaped lump along his inner eyebrow, which was appeared to be fixed and quite solid. Today his eye very suddenly appeared to swell slightly and go red. there was a large discharge of greeny/white material.

the lump in his eyebrow has now almost halved in size.

I feel that the two things are related, but our GP says it's just conjunctivitis.

Does this sound like there is a relation between the injury, swelling and discharge?

Brief Answer:
I don’t think they are related!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for contacting healthcare magic.

I have reviewed this information fully. This is not connected to the lump. If it were the lump, it would have meant an infection. An infection would have certainly come with severe pain as the lump is circumscribed. Because you have reported minimal pain, this is most likely not related to the already existing swelling.

To me, follow the prescribed measures. Report progress to us. If there is severe pain, or increase sized of the sweeping, please inform us immediately for further review. As of now, it is NOT.

I hope this addresses your worry. I wish you well. Feel free to follow up with me if you need more information or clarifications.
