Suggest Remedies For Calf Pain Caused By Euflexxa Shots

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Aug 2016
Question: I had euflexxa treatment of three shots in my knee. The last injection was XXXXXXX 15. For the second and third injection I felt as if something was running down my leg on the inside. A week ago I started having calf pain. I thought I pulled a muscle. However, when I put ice on it, my skin felt like leather when I took the ice off and the whole area has a red rash now. If the gel somehow misses the spot it should be injected into and gets into the leg, is that dangerous?

Brief Answer:
It is not possible to get it in to calf

Detailed Answer:
Hello, greetings,

I have studied your case. It is not possible that this injection get wrongly inserted in calf or missed the spot because whenever this is injected, first needle aspiration from knee joint is done, and only if some fluid came out then only Euflexxa is injected. Even if some part of injection goes in wrong area it is not harmful.

I have following suggestions for you:

1. get Doppler test of calf muscles to check if you are not having DVT.
2. Ice fomentation
3. Tablet Ibuprufen 400 mg twice daily for next 2-3 days.
4. avoid squatting and cross leg sitting, you can used steroid injection in knee if pain is severe.

I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
Thanks
