Brief Answer:
Health screening at your age

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic.
I am glad you are health conscious and you want to get a checkup done. The first thing to ask in a health checkup is if you have and symptoms that are bothering you.
Even if you feel perfectly fine. It is important to know that most people who have high blood pressure don't even know it (i'm not saying YOU do, just in general). The only way to find out is to have your blood pressure checked regularly. Likewise, high blood sugar and high cholesterol levels often do not produce any symptoms until the disease becomes advanced.

Here is what you need to do and when you need to do it.

Blood pressure screening:

- Have your blood pressure checked every 2 years unless it is 120-139/80-89 Hg or higher. Then have it checked every year.

Cholesterol screening and heart disease prevention:
- Men over age 34 should be checked every 5 years.

Colon cancer screening:

- A stool test done every year.
- After age 40 a Flexible sigmoidoscopy every 5 years along with a stool occult blood test.
After age 45, Colonoscopy every 10 years.

Dental exam:
- Go to the dentist every year for an exam and cleaning.

Eye exam:

- If you have vision problems, continue to have an eye exam every 2 years.

Immunizations:
- You should receive a flu vaccine every year.
- You should have a tetanus-diphtheria booster vaccination every 10 years. If you have not received a tetanus-diphtheria and acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccine as one of your tetanus-diphtheria vaccines, you should have it once.

Preventive health visit every 2 years until age 50, and then once a year, should include:

- Checking height and weight
- Screening for alcohol and tobacco use
- Screening for depression

So this would be the basic stuff that needs to be covered by your checkup. Nowadays most corporates have health checkup packages which cover ALOT more than this, at pretty high cost, but you can go for one of those and be rest assured that you are being screened for everything that is required.

Hope this helps.
