Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
It is good to know that your father who is 52 years old has undergone a laparoscopic Inguinal Hernia Surgery recently and that he is fine.

Precautions to Take after Hernia surgery by Laparoscopy method:
-Avoid straining at stool-. If there is constipation to take mild laxatives.
-There should be no coughing. Avoid people with flu
-No strenuous activities like pulling, pushing, lifting of heavy objects.
-Watch for any symptoms of swelling, pain, fever or any abdominal pain and inform the operating Surgeon. If no complaints, please see the Surgeon at the given appointment date.
-Have protein-rich diet as this is essential for good healing.
-Have anti-oxidants as they help in better healing.
-Maintain a good Hemoglobin level.

Time for fitness:
-It is better to take a rest up to 3 weeks.
By this time the healing is occurring gradually to give strength to the operated site. The new tissues are forming and under remodeling.

-From 3 weeks to 3 months, your Father can start normal working, of course avoid the strenuous activities.

-After 3 months your father can regain all the normal activities for his age. By 3 months the internal strength of the wound is well achieved.
He can lead a normal life as if no surgery was performed after 3 months after surgery.

All these precautions and the fitness schedule is as per the normal physiological processes one undergoes hence this is the old wisdom, which works the best.

I hope this answers your queries, please feel free to ask for any relevant questions if you have or if you feel that there is a gap-of-communication.

Wishing your Father a complete and full recovery and successful post-operative period.
