Suggest Precautionary Measures To Avoid Tapeworm Infection From Contaminated Foods

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Sep 2017
Question: yesterday I had a mixed salad food in my office premises.
Few people have got sick after that.
I am fine but feeling a lil uneasy in my stomach too.
What I fear is that I had lettuce and cabbage in that salad.
Now my question is is there any possibility of tapeworm infection in my intestines ?
Can you suggest any food or medicines so that even if there is a chance I can take those medicines as a precautionary measure.

Brief Answer:
Single dose of albendazole should suffice

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your apprehension. Let me assure you that you can take a single dose Albendazole (Available in brands like Bandy) 400 mg once today and that should take care of any tapeworm even if it is in the stage of infecting you.

Let me know if I could help further.

Hi Sir ,

Thanks for your feedback.
Is there any need to worry any side effect of albendazole .
Becoz I am not sure enough whether I have infection or not.
If there is no side effect or nothing to worry about then I will be having today itself only.
Best Regards,

Brief Answer:
You can take it without worries

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.

Any medicine can have side effects but they affect only a few people (may be 1 in 10,000 or even lower). So, I would insist you not to worry about side effects.

I think that having an albendazole will clear you off your worries.
