Brief Answer:
Injection won't have a negative effect.

Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

The injections you periodically receive do not negatively affect you. They should (hopefully) help with the pain related to the spinal stenosis. Regarding the stroke history the injection doesn't offer any benefit, but doesn't do any harm either, so it can be done.

As for the pain medication given the fact aspirin is not allowed (due to its effects as a blood thinner) I am afraid that over the counter medications all affect clotting of the blood so are not recommended before the injection. However they do so less than aspirin, and do not stay long in the system, so I think NSAIDs like Ibuprofen (Advil) may be used until at least 2 days prior to the injection.
Other safer alternatives would include Acetaminophen (Tylenol). If none is an option Hydrocodone may be used for some days, it has its addiction issues but for a short period of time it would be acceptable.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.
