default
Posted on Sat, 5 Nov 2016
Question: I am taking one Brilinta 90 mg tablet in the morning with an 81 mg aspirin and another 90 mg Brilinta at bedtime (without aspirin). What OTC medication
may I take for pain I'm having in my knee that won't interfere with or compromise the Brilinta/Aspirin dosage?

Brief Answer:
Pain control

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sorry to hear that you are having knee pain and needing medication for pain control. With your current medication tylenol would be my recommendation for pain control. You could also use topical analgesics like icy hot.

You can take naprosyn or ibuprofen(NSAIDS) with the brilinta and ASA but it may increase your risk for bleeding. The risk is small but it is there. So you can decide if you want to try the NSAIDs in addition to the tylenol for pain control. My recommendation though is to use the tylenol alone and use the NSAIDs only if you need extra pain control

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions

Thanks Doctor, no further questions. We'll go with the Tylenol and if that doesn't work, I'll tough it out until I can see my PCP (no one's in office today)
