Brief Answer:
Paracetamol or acetaminophen should suffice.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through the details and understand your concern. Most often such symptoms are due to viral infections and irrespective of treatment it usually spontaneously resolves in 5-7 days.

If your child has fever with temperature more than 100°F, you need to give paracetamol or acetaminophen (P-250, Crocin or Tylenol) to it bring down. If paracetamol is not effective in bringing down the temperature, you need to use Meftal-P (mefenamic acid) which is more effective. The minimum gap between two doses of Crocin is 4-6 hours. The doses of Crocin and Meftal P are independent of each other. Minimum gap between doses of Meftal P is 6-8 hours. However, I do not think that they would be needed to be used simultaneously. Also use tepid sponging.

Hopefully that would help. Feel free to write back in case of further queries.

Dear Dr. Diptanshu XXXXXXX

My daughter's was having slight temperature from yesterday evening only. I thought it might reduce on its own and had not given any medication till today afternoon. But fever doesn't seem to go down and upon checking it was 100.8 in the noon. Upon contacting you as per your suggestion I gave her Crocin once to bring down the fever. Her temperature was 100.0, 2 hours back. But all of a sudden her body became hot and temperature has reached 101.4. She is a little bit cranky due to fever but apart from that she is very active and playful as usual. Her appetite is also normal. Can I give her Meftal-P after 6 hours of giving Crocin. Can Crocin and Meftal be given on same day with some hours of gap in between. Please give your suggestion doctor.

Brief Answer:
Can be given.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. The fever may come for a few more days. You can give Meftal P if needed. It can be given independent of when the dose of Crocin was given. They can be used on the same day with some hours gap in between.

Regards
