Question: hi im XXXXXXX since one week, i am having severe throat irritation, cold, cough, i have consulted a Doctor, he has prescribed, tab. augpen 625, Tab. Allegra-M, Asthalin Syrup, almost 5 days of course over, but still im facing the irritation in throat and severe cough,. Doctor can you please prescribe me any tabs, so that i can get relieved immediately. please can you give me a medicine so that i get relieved by this throat infection and cough immediately. please

Hello,

I have gone carefully through your query and understand your concerns. Sore throat in children can be caused due to some viruses like Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) (causes mono), or some bacteria like Streptococcus (causes Strep throat). Irrespective of the cause, all you need to do is to gurgle with lukewarm water and recovery will occur in a week or so.

If bacterial infection is suspected, antibiotics might need to be taken. You have already taken it and the other medicines are proper as well. You would need to be patient. Taking additional medicines will not hasten the recovery. Taking steam inhalation however should help.
