Suggest Medication For High BP

default
Posted on Fri, 5 Sep 2014
Question: I'm 54 years old and started taking 25mg Angizar in the morning for high bp two and a half years ago as a result of the stress of filing for divorce. I obtained my divorce at the beginning of this year but still have stress adjusting to being a single parent with a 21 year old child. There are days when the bp is 130/80, 140/90 and sometimes 160/100. Should I increase the dose to 50mg? Would I be at risk and cause damage by not increasing it?

Brief Answer:
increasing dose would help

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It would, as you suggest need to be increased.

The blood pressure goal for persons less than 60 is less 140/90. When you blood pressure goes above this it can cause damage to the blood vessels and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.

It has been found that blood pressures that fluctuate between normal and high is as dangerous as when the blood pressure remains in the high zone.

It would be best for it to be stable within normal range.

This can be achieved by increasing the dose of the angizaar to 50 mg. This should be done after consulting with your doctor.

If the increase is not enough, then additional medication may be needed.

Summary: (1)the blood pressure goal is less than 140/90
(2)fluctuating blood pressure is as dangerous as a blood pressure remaining high always
(3)need to alter dose (in consultation with your doctor)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
